Background and Problem Context

Executive Summary

This Canvas Accessibility online course is for professors at Midland State University. By the end of this course, professors will be able to create accessible pages, quizzes, and videos that meet accessibility standards. They will feel confident using tools like alt text, headings, and closed captions. Most importantly, they will learn how to identify and resolve accessibility issues before students complain.

What were the challenges you were trying to solve with this project?

A professor, Dr. Monica Rivera, at Midland State University recently had a student who filed an accessibility-related grievance. The student said that she would sue if the university didn’t make the course accessible within the month.

Dr. Rivera wants to make her course accessible to all her students, but she is unsure of how to do so. She is overwhelmed by conflicting advice and the limited time available to her.

Dr. Rivera wants a course with clear examples, checklists, and visual walkthroughs.
